Can ‘On-Farm’ Seed Priming and Chitosan Seed Treatments Induce Host Defences in Winter Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) under Field Conditions?

چکیده
Enhancing host defences through induced resistance, disease tolerance, and/or escape, in combination with current management regimes may be a valuable strategy to reduce pesticide use. Since both ‘on-farm’ seed priming (OSP) and chitosan (CHP) have been reported confer varying levels of defence, this study sought investigate their potential deliver control as for sustainable foliar pathogens winter barley. Field experiments were conducted determine the effects OSP CHP at two different field sites using three cultivars under fungicide/non-fungicide regimes. Overall, no evidence was found suggest that or can induce effective resistance temperate conditions. However, these trials enabled identification candidate traits tolerance (and escape) primary secondary spread powdery mildew, i.e., large canopies rapid stem elongation respectively. Thus, treatments escape traits, but benefits are dependent upon successful establishment vigour first. The integration into crop protection better undertaken spring crops semi-arid agriculture where added emergence help compensate negative environmental interactions.

A High-Throughput RNA Extraction for Sprouted Single-Seed Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) Rich in Polysaccharides
Germinated seed from cereal crops including barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) is an important tissue to extract RNA and analyze expression levels of genes that control aspects of germination. These tissues are rich in polysaccharides and most methods for RNA extraction are not suitable to handle the excess polysaccharides. Here, we compare the current methods for RNA extraction applicable to germinat...

Lysine catabolism in seedlings of barley (Hordeum vulgare L. var. Emir) was studied by direct injection of the following tracers into the endosperm of the seedlings: aspartic acid-3-(14)C, 2-aminoadipic acid-1-(14)C, saccharopine-(14)C, 2,6-diaminopimelic acid-1-(7)-(14)C, and lysine-1-(14)C. Labeled saccharopine was formed only after the administration of either labeled 2,6-diaminopimelic acid...
متن کاملAllelopathic Plants. 19. Barley (Hordeum vulgare L)
Barley is integrated with other crops to inhibit weed growth, through allelopathic interactions. Effects of barley on growth of other crops, weeds and autotoxicity among cultivars result primarily from allelopathy mediated by allelochemicals released from plant components and/or exuded from living roots. A limited number of allelochemicals are identified that contributes to allelopathic effecti...

Current study was set up to determine the response of 12 Iranian winter diploid barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) cultivars to anther culture on solid FHG induction medium supplemented with 90 mg/l sucrose, 2 mg/l 2,4-D and 0.1 mg/l kinetin. For cold pretreatment each selected spike was kept in a refrigerator at 4 C for 14 days. The experimental design consisted of a completely randomized design (CRD...
